Teaching Philosophy:

Yoga demands our personal practice in order to lead and teach others. Example says far more than our words. My background is steeped in a daily study of the classical texts and an application of their principles to every aspect of life for the last 18 years. In writing my book True Yoga: Practicing with the Yoga Sutras for Happiness & Spiritual Fulfillment, I studied 6 different translations of Patanjali’s Sutras at length, as well as the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and the classic Autobiography of a Yogi. Over the years I have studied sacred texts from other traditions including the Tao Te Ching, the Bible, Incan and Mayan Shamanism, as well as Christian mysticism and traditionalism. I believe there is an underlying unity and truth in all.

My Objective:

To educate and empower new teachers to understand the historical context of Yoga and its influential texts, how they inform the ‘big picture’ of yoga practice and how to integrate the Eight Limbs into their personal lives. Additionally to develop students’ understanding of how the kleshas and the gunas affect us daily, and how to move into deeper clarity in all five koshas.

Yoga Alliance Standard:

Curriculum meets the 30 hours required for the YPLE component by Yoga Alliance for a 300 hour teacher training program. Comprised of 25 contact hours + 5 non-contact reading hours.

“ What is being taught in the name of Yoga is a minute part of this great tradition, a microscopic focus on the physical. Yoga in its completeness is a way of life that allows for total transformation.”

~Nischala Joy Devi, The Secret Power of Yoga
